In 2009 the Société d’Exploitation des Ports de Monaco replaced the infrastructure in Port Fontville with floating concrete pontoons.
The existing floating infrastructure had deteriorated over time and no longer met the high standards of this World class marina basin. The pontoons were constructed by Bellingham Marine, in their factory outside Barcellona and trucked to this congested site where the final assembly was carried out in the water, linking the pontoons together with timber walers and securing the system using concrete dead weights and chain.
